EF #How Gadgets Affect My Life

Since 2001, when I was in second semester in university, that was the first time I had a gadget. Nokia 3310 was quite popular for the students. At that time, it was so sophisticated for us to have it. Even so, the mobile phone had only two main functions. They were applied for Short Message System (SMS) and Phone Call. Life connection were easier and comfortable. The family and friends connection were quite closer too as we intensely communicated by mobile phone or SMS.

Now the technology is rapidly changing. Today gadgets are multipurpose. When Blackberry (BB) was so popular, I was not really impressed. I remain used my LG QWERTY mobile phone. Until my boss told me to buy Blackberry for the shake of work.  Yes, my boss had me a favor to have blackberry in order to make me easily connected with each colleagues when we were out of the office.

Again for the sake of work, I had my own BB. Its popular name was an Apollo series.  At first, I was thinking it was fun. I could use many apps (social network, email, games, browse and live-streaming at you tube). I felt my life was so busy with my own world. Anytime I could post my Facebook status, read and sent e-mail at my fingertips.

Since then, I realized how tired I was. My eyes was never stopping on my screen. I was always curious on my status or what happened around. Who gave comments on my FB? Who sent me e-mail? My mind, my memory gadgets were full of the stuffs. Whether they were important or not, sometimes I forgot to delete them.

Time flows and I feel the gadget's functions affect me  a lot as an individual, a family and a community. I questioned my self. 'How this gadget affected the healthy development of mine? What about my kid, my husband? I felt so worried. Sometimes I gave care or attention on my gadget's screen more and less communicating with my family, my friends or my community. I preferred updating my status on my social network apps to sleeping or taking a nap. I became poor sleeper. Staring at my screen remained my brain alert.

Pondering those ill-effects of the gadget for me as an individual, I thought it depends on how wise I use it. I managed myself using this stuff on my work days and weekends. I banned my screen on my bed in the name of good night's sleep and for the sake of my family time.
